Velena Sims
Born and raised in Amarillo, Velena is a woman who loves God and loves family more than anything else in the world!! She’s been married to the love of her life, Myron for 17 years and though they don’t have children of their own, they’ve had the honor of having a hand in raising a lot of their family's children. Myron has 4 brothers and through them they are the proud Aunt and Uncle to 13 nieces and nephews and 9 great-nieces and great-nephews. Additionally, Velena has 1 brother and through him, they have 2 more nieces, Brileigh and Carlynn that absolutely light up their lives.
Education in Velena’s family is of the utmost importance and because of this, Velena has been blessed to obtain an Associate in Applied Science-Business Management degree from Amarillo College and a Bachelor of Applied Science-Business Management degree from Wayland Baptist University. She is also a little over a year away from obtaining a Master of Arts Management degree from Wayland.
For the past 5 years Velena has been employed as the Benefits and Programs Administrator for Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, a residential childcare facility 36 miles outside of Amarillo. She oversees all benefits for about 420 employees of Cal Farley's and the ISD. In addition to benefit administration, she also works on employee relation issues as well as employee programs and activities.
Velena’s passion and love for photography started at a very young age. Understanding that a story told through the lens of a camera is unmatched, and always looking to be in a photo, it was destiny that at some point in her life, one would find its way into her hands.
Velena and Myron currently reside in Amarillo, TX.
